The BA Hons Multi-disciplinary Art and Design course at the West Wales School of the Arts recognises that some degree students may not wish to opt for one of the specific pathways such as Fine Art Painting or Ceramics but may wish to continue to explore more than one area of the visual arts. This may because they are undecided about which pathway to pursue, because they do not see their work/career as fitting within one art discipline or because they wish to gain a broad experience in order to pursue a career in teaching or arts management etc. The course therefore offers the first year student an opportunity to undertake core modules in Drawing and life drawing and Critical and Contextual studies with optional electives from a range of other disciplines including Painting, Sculpture, Bronze casting, 3D Art in the Landscape, Ceramics, Photography, Web design, Textiles etc. A further core module of Integrated Practice enables the student to draw elements together in a personal way, under the guidance of one of the tutors from modules undertaken. In subsequent years students may opt to continue this multidisciplinary mix or elect to join a specific pathway. This route offers the potential to negotiate, in conjunction with highly supportive staff, an innovative and creative pathway through their art education. UCAS institution code: C22
