The first year of the course consists of an intensive programme of workshops, to provide an introductory and experimental basis for your work. Workshops cover a range of surface pattern and constructed textile processes including drawing, digital design, weave, knit, print, stitch, felting and rug tufting. The second year allows further exploration of skills within a series of live projects and competitions, providing the opportunity to experience a range of specialisms in a variety of situations. The third year provides a holistic experience and comprises of a personal negotiated project, developing entrepreneurial skills and theoretical knowledge of chosen subject area. Graduates exhibit at New Designers, a high profile design showcase held in Islington, London. UCAS institution code: C22

Contemporary Textiles


BA (Hons) Contemporary Textiles at West Wales School of the Arts encourages creativity and innovation in a friendly working environment. Each student has a dedicated workstation in a studio surrounded by workshop facilities. Students are treated as individuals, are encouraged to develop existing strengths, explore new skills and discover personal potential. The course has very favourable retention and attainment rates, reflecting the level of tutorial and technical support provided at the college.
