Throughout the three years of this course you will be encouraged to explore the creative potential of ceramics and 3D mixed media. You will undertake a rigorous programme of study that incorporates an extensive range of processes including hand building, throwing, slip casting, plaster work, 3D design methods and glaze / kiln technology. While initially there is an emphasis on technical skill, all projects are intended to develop creative visual and conceptual approaches. Projects are both set and individually negotiated with varied design, studio pottery and fine art outcomes. The course programme embraces a spectrum of three dimensional creative activity including functional studio pottery, design for batch production, figurative sculpture, ceramics and mixed media, digital ceramic print processes, architectural ceramics, kiln building and workshop maintenance. These outcomes reflect the diverse and exciting nature of contemporary Ceramic Arts and 3D design.
